Wanted: doctor for small island. Must like boats, the seaside and having no hope of keeping a secret…

Lorna lives on the tiny Scottish island of Mure, a peaceful place where everyone helps their neighbour. But the local GP is retiring, and nobody wants his job. Mure is too small and remote.

Far away, in a crowded camp, Saif is treating a little boy with a badly cut hand. Saif is a refugee, but he’s also a doctor: exactly what Mure needs.

Saif is welcome in Mure, but can he forget his past? Over one summer, Saif will find a place to call home, and Lorna’s life will change forever.

My Review

The front cover of A Very Distant Shore is so very simple with the wavy hills and boats bobbing on the shore; quite idyllic wouldn’t you say? The village sits beside the shore and a couple standing together. Sea gulls are gliding round the title; in a bold red and Jenny’s name; which is coloured blue making the stand out! I’m a big fan of Jenny’s covers of her book’s they always draw me in!

I fear this is going to be a short review as it’s a short story; Jenny has got this story spot on! Her characters are all very different and I liked that this story plot is current to things going on in today’s world. For the setting I can say that is somewhere you want going and I had a such lovely vision of what I was reading; which I love about her books anyway.

I really enjoyed this Quick Read very much and was a lovely feel good story that I think was super!
